Boys Program

Glastonbury Lacrosse Club's boys program is dedicated to providing boys ages 6-14 the opportunity to experience one of the fastest growing youth sports in the US. We serve residents of Glastonbury and residents of neighboring towns who do not have a USA Lacrosse recognized program.
Our program welcomes players of any skill or experience levels with a mission to grow the great game of Lacrosse.
Ages
The boys program is separated into four separate age groupings:
- Rising Stars K-2nd
- Bantams 3rd & 4th
- Juniors 5th & 6th
- Seniors 7th & 8th
Programs available to players will be based on their birthday and USA Lacrosse's age brackets.
*Age Guidelines can be found on the USA Lacrosse Website
When
While our boys program is progressively beginning to offer opportunities to play year-round, our primary season is in the Spring.
The Spring season typically starts early April thru Mid-June.

GLC's "home" fields are located in Glastonbury CT. We have fields dedicated for lacrosse in 3 primary locations:

Games
Games will also depend on the teams.
Rising Stars - Minimal Games
Bantams - 6-8
Juniors/Seniors - 6-8 + CVYL Playoffs
Games can be held in place of practices and during weekdays or weekends.
Jerseys
Starting in 2024, GLC will be working with our long standing partner to offer jersey purchasing as part of the pre-season activities (vs. club purchasing). We hope this improves family's experience and allows for individual requirements to be met.

Spring '25 - Jr & Sr Evals
Players will have the OPTION of attending 1 of the 2 evaluations HOWEVER we are trying to maximize Juniors Feb 24th and Seniors Feb 25th. If your player can only make 1 vs the other please select the date they can attend. The goal is to baseline ALL of our Juniors and Seniors prior to season start. This will also serve as the primary initial team roster creations, number of teams per level and coaching support needs. Outcomes are outlined below.
Location: Oakwood Indoor Facility (Glastonbury)
Dates & Times:
Monday February 24th; 4pm-5pm (Field opens 3:45pm for gear and warmups)
Tuesday February 25th; 4pm-5pm (Field opens 3:45pm for gear and warmups)
Grades: New and Returning 5th - 8th Graders.
Process:
Full equipment will be required (Helmet, Gloves, Shoulder/Chest, Elbow Guards, Protective Cup, Mouth Guard and Cleats). Boys will be divided into 5th/6th and 7th/8th.
Drills will be conducted to measure the following skills:
- Passing
- Catching
- Shooting
- Ball Control - Both stick skills and player awareness
- Ball Sharing
- Team Support
- Positivity
- Listening
- Maturity
Outcome:
Boys will be grouped into PRELIMINARY "clusters" based on evaluation results.
Over the course of the season, players can move clusters based on pace of development and club needs.
This should serve as a preliminary indication on how teams will be created for team rosters, league games and tournaments.
We would like to see ALL players attend, regardless of how experienced they are.
2025 is all about skill progression and creating more of a club centric environment (1 for all and all for 1).
***GOALIE EQUIPMENT WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN TRYING!
